Decision guide · Audio streaming
What streaming plan does an online radio need?
Size for maximum concurrent listeners and stream bitrate, not total monthly audience. Also define live, AutoDJ or mixed operation; players; HTTPS publishing; and what happens if the source drops. ZGH provides audio streaming from Santiago infrastructure with Shoutcast, Icecast, SSL, control panel and plan-based capacity.
Use cases
Common scenarios
Permanent online radio
Continuous programming with live source, automation and audience statistics.
Churches and communities
Periodic broadcasts requiring a simple link and known event capacity.
Events and stations
Operations combining studios, mobile sources, AutoDJ and multiple origins.
Decision criteria
Inputs for plan selection
These elements determine capacity, quality and behavior during an interruption.
-
Concurrent listeners
Expected maximum at one time plus headroom for campaigns or events.
-
Bitrate and codec
Target quality, player compatibility and studio upload consumption.
-
Source signal
Connectivity, encoder software, redundancy and the person responsible for transmission.
-
AutoDJ
Fallback content, scheduling and transition when no live source exists.
-
Distribution
Website, player, application, directories and HTTPS use.

FAQ
Online radio questions
Are monthly and concurrent listeners the same?
No. Plans are mainly sized by people connected at the same time; monthly audience can be much larger.
What happens if the studio internet fails?
The live stream stops unless an alternate source or AutoDJ is configured. Contingency must be prepared in advance.
Does it include a mobile app?
Do not assume so. Streaming service and application development are separate scopes.
